The Light: A Simple Practice for Emotional Release

     Have you ever felt a 'knot' of anxiety in your chest or a 'heavy cloud' over your head that you just couldn't shake? You don't always need tools or rituals to clear it. Sometimes, the most powerful healing comes from within. Today, we’re diving into the Light Stream Technique—a simple, visualization-based tool to wash away emotional distress. 

What is it?

    The Light Stream Technique isn't just used in spiritual practices, it is also used in therapy such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This technique is a visualization used to concentrate healing energy on a specific physical sensation in the body. 

How to practice:

    1. Locate the feeling. Do you feel tightness in your throat? Your chest?

    2. Give it qualities. If that feeling had shape, color, and temperature, what would it be?

    3. Choose your light (this is my favorite part). Imagine a stream of healing light gently flow through the top of your head. What color is it? (White? Gold? Green?)

    4. The "wash." Visualize this light vibrating through the "shape" of your stress, breaking it down and washing it away until the area is filled only with light. 

    It's really that simple. And don't worry if you're not good at visualization. You can literally say to yourself, quietly or out loud, "The shape of my feeling is______. The color is ______. The temperature is _______. The light is colored ______ and it is streaming down through my head towards this feeling. The light is breaking down ________."

This has truly been one of my lifesavers. I like that it can be both spiritual, and as a tool for those hard mental health days.
